“The sheet of paper before me is a blank page, and at the same time it is also a physical object in space. Just as the sheet asserts itself as a defined surface, as a single entity, so too does it elude us. Every mark on the sheet points to fragmentation, to breaks, fallibilities and provisionality. With the first marks on the sheet, in the back-and-forth between establishment and dissolution, I begin to find my bearings. As if it were only in the movement of the gaze that the elements coalesce into a configuration. The eye, in doing so, shows a tendency to hold onto a form, however fleeting it may be.”

Ein erster provisorischer Zugang zu Geccellis Bildern, der schon in einem zweiten Schritt korrigiert werden muss, könnte zwischen zwei Verfahren unterscheiden: der weißen Grundierung einerseits, den bunten Linien andererseits. Jene gleicht das Gemälde der Wand an, diese durchmessen das Bildfeld in waagerechter Richtung, wiederholen die obere und untere Bildkante und deuten zudem verschiedene Möglichkeiten eines Horizonts an, der wiederum auf die Position eines Betrachters vor dem Bild verweist.
